About Us
After years of prior performance and choreographic experience, Alex Gumminger — Owner/Director, is thrilled to start this new chapter of his dance career in the heart of Shawnee. He is certified by Dance Masters of America, and invests himself in the progress of each student. The culture of Limelight is centered on our students, creating a safe and fun environment for your young dancer to grow. All music, costuming, and class material is age appropriate and tasteful. Many students grow up to be presented at our Spring Show their Senior Year of high school, celebrating their achievements both onstage and off.
Alex trained at Nallia School of Dance in Shawnee, and is eager to carry on the tradition of dance excellence. One of Limelight's primary goals is to give back to our community. Alex grew up assistant teaching with his grandmother's 50+ program, performing at nursing homes and assisted living facilities around Johnson County. Dance is something that spans across generations and brings joy to all!
Limelight is the spiritual successor to several Kansas City Dance Institutions. Looking to apply traditional values in the modern dance world, we will provide and expand upon the strong core training you've come to expect. Exciting new offerings include Lyrical and Contemporary, and more extensive Tap Programming.
