What We Offer
Here at Limelight, we've curated a well-rounded training program for students of all levels. Offering classes in Creative Movement, Ballet/Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Acting and Voice. Our training caters to a wide variety of students, from those seeking recreational classes to those seeking to pursue a professional career on the stage and beyond. See something you like? Recreational Combo Classes
Students will have the opportunity to perform on the big stage in two annual productions. Starting with Creative Movement, dancers will progress through Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. Levels 1-4 meet weekly and feature a mix of Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. These classes allow students build valuable life skills including discipline, responsibility, focus, teamwork, and creative expression. Bring in your 'littles' and let's get to dancing!
Advanced Recreational Classes
Students will have the same performance opportunities as our combo classes. Students entering Level 5 and Level 6 classes will take 1 to 1.5 hour classes for each discipline in which they are enrolled. Offerings include Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, and more!
Dance Electric Performing and Competition Troupe (D.E.P.T)
For the student seeking more performance opportunities. Students audition for this in the summer, after having been enrolled in regular classes for at least the previous year. Troupe members will perform at Civic Events around the Shawnee and Kansas City area, and have opportunities to participate in dance competitions.
Boys Tap N' Tumble
Curated to build strong, responsible, and disciplined young men, this class is for the boys! Showing them how dance can be fun and reminding everyone that dance is not just for girls. Bring your tap shoes and lets make some noise!
Professionally Trained Student (P.T.S) Program
For the student seeking pursue a career on the stage and beyond. This program begins at age 14, and offers a more rigorous training to prepare students for the professional world. This program is catered to the specific needs of each student enrolled.
Teachers Training Program
For the student looking to share their love of dance with the next generation! Students seventh grade and older spend two to three years demonstrating in the classroom, and progress to assistant teaching. Once they pass our proprietary certification they may lead their own class of students. This unique program reinforces the dance training learned as a young student, just from the other side of the classroom!
Auditioner's Prep Class
For the student interested in learning vocal, acting and movement techniques for auditioning for musicals, dance/acting roles. This is a workshop that meets periodically.
Private Voice Lessons
We are very excited to offer private voice lessons. Train your vocal technique to ace your next audition.
Dance Team Prep Class
For the student that wants to prepare for their high school/college team tryouts. This is a workshop that meets periodically.
What to Wear
Each age level wears a class leotard and tights to class each week. Boys will wear appropriate black shorts or pants with a solid-colored shirt. Each age group has their own particular color and style. These are the same leotards used for more casual shows such as our Winter Shows, and are ordered through the studio. You will receive that information when you receive your confirmation of enrollment. Students will also need the proper shoes pertaining to the class they are taking. This information is also given in our confirmation packet which is mailed to you after receiving enrollment.
